JUST A BLOG INSPIRED BY A CAT

Blog Post #9

During our class Gallery Walk, I got to see and really compare my project to my other classmates. In the first part, while I critiqued their work, I learned that not everyone was very far into the project. This seems like a very small thought but, it was very comforting to me. I thought I’d be behind in all aspects of our exhibit creations but, I ended up feeling better about the progress I had made. Looking at other project’s I first noted that I needed to work on content. At lot of my classmates had the inverse of what I had; which was a lot of text but barely any media. I also noted that many of them had the same theme and color choices; this made me want to change mine to make it stand out.

For the second part of the Gallery Walk, I read all my critiques. Surprisingly, I had an overwhelming amount of positive and interesting comments. My classmates loved my use of color and puns hidden in my work. For the negatives, I got told my navigation was hard to use. This was very useful advice so I went and tried to change titles and headers to make it easier to navigate. Next time, I would probably use another theme. There weren’t too many options on Omeka but, I did notice you can create your own and if I had more time I would have liked to play with that tool.
